The United States Food and Drugs
Administration – FDA has formally awarded the
approval to Thrive
Nicotine Polacrilex Gum – the smoking cessation drug
developed by Parsippany, NJ based pharmaceutical
giants called Novartis Consumer Health. Thrieve
is the nicotine based mint flavored gum designed
to replace nicotine for the smoker.
Smoking has been proved culprit of causing
various cancers and cardiovascular diseases and
other disorders both to the smokers as well as
their family members. Nicotine addiction is
really very tough to get rid of and even if the
smoker is willing to give it up, he cannot do so
easily. Novartis has now made it possible. The
company has developed one smoking cessation gum
called Thrive.
It is available in 2mg and 4mg doses and is
powerful enough to help smokers quit smoking
just within 12 weeks only. According to Novartis,
Thrive simply doubles the smoker’s chances of
quitting smoking.
As planned, Thrive is likely to go on sale by
late 2007 as officially revealed by Novartis and
the company has will sell Thrive packages along
with user’s guide and an audio CD. The company
is also likely to have a toll-free counseling
line for helping the intended smokers in their
attempt to quit smoking.
Thrieve Nicotine
Polacrilex Gum is designed to deliver low levels of
nicotine to the blood stream to help diminish
the smoking desire and other withdrawal symptoms
that are accompanied by the smoking cessation.
The company has set the lower dose of 2mg
especially for those smokers who smoke less than
25 cigarettes every day and the 4mg dose for the
smokers who smoke more than 25 cigarettes per
day.
